What do you do in Switzerland?

Glencore was established in Switzerland more than 40 years ago, and has remained in the country ever since. Our Group headquarters are in the commune of Baar, located in the canton of Zug.

We employ more than 800 people in Baar, Switzerland. With the exception of oil and agriculture, all of our business segments and corporate functions are based in Baar.

How do you support local communities in Switzerland?

We play an active role in local communities in Switzerland, supporting a variety of projects and organisations, including charities.

As part of our work, we sponsor and support cultural and sports organisations, events and the junior teams of regional sports clubs. We also work together with bildxzug, the association for apprenticeship training in Zug and employ several apprentices in Switzerland. See also our Careers section.

How do you engage with NGOs and stakeholders in Switzerland?

We regularly engage both with Swiss and international NGOs and stakeholders in an open dialogue. In Zug, for example, we meet on a regular basis with the representatives of the churches to discuss potential concerns or questions.

As part of our engagement, in April 2014, our CEO Ivan Glasenberg hosted a visit to our Colombian assets for Swiss residents and NGOs.
