What do you do in Switzerland?

Glencore was established in Switzerland more than 40 years ago, and has remained in the country ever since. Our Group headquarters are in the commune of Baar, located in the canton of Zug.

We employ more than 770 people in Baar, Switzerland. With the exception of oil and agriculture, all of our business segments and corporate functions are based in Baar.

How do you support local communities in Switzerland?

We play an active role in local communities in Switzerland, supporting more than 100 projects and organisations, including charities.

As part of our work, we have set up partnerships with educational organisations – such as ETH Zurich whom we supported for a science exhibition, BodenSchätzeWerte, in Zurich.

We also back cultural organisations and events, such as Lucerne Festival's Oster-Festival and Zug-based event Ägeri on Ice.

Encouraging young people is important to us. This is why we sponsor sports organisations and the junior teams of regional sports clubs, such as ice hockey team EVZ.

We employ 13 apprentices in Switzerland, and work together with bildxzug the association for apprenticeships in Zug. See also our Careers section.

How do you engage with NGOs and stakeholders in Switzerland?

We engage openly and regularly with both Swiss and international NGOs, responding to concerns raised.

For example, in April 2014, our CEO Ivan Glasenberg hosted a visit to our Colombian assets for Swiss residents and NGOs.
