The Category Specialist will be responsible for optimizing strategic sourcing within their category (Mining, Plant & Maintenance, or Site Services), leading negotiations and developing procurement strategies with regional impact. Candidates should have experience in end-to-end sourcing, advanced tools (TCO, Should Cost, Category Management), and supply chain risk management. The role focuses on cost reduction, operational optimization, and the development of strategic suppliers. It also requires the ability to anticipate supply chain disruptions, considering geopolitical factors and ESG criteria. Success will be measured by the ability to deliver annual savings through advanced sourcing strategies, drive cost and sustainable sourcing initiatives, and evaluate and manage key supplier performance to ensure efficiency and risk reduction.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Sourcing analysis and management: Evaluate internal demand and consumption behavior for the category, ensuring updated market, cost, and supplier information through benchmarking and trend analysis.
- Sourcing strategy and execution: Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with Glencore policies, ensuring effective planning and execution of the sourcing plan.
- Negotiation and contracts: Lead negotiations and award strategic contracts, evaluate suppliers, and ensure best value for the company. Monitor performance through SLAs and KPIs.
- Cost optimization and management: Manage total cost of ownership (TCO), identify savings opportunities, and maximize regional synergies in collaboration with the sites.
- Risk management and operational continuity: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks by developing contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Stakeholder engagement and reporting: Coordinate with internal stakeholders to define requirements and align them with sourcing strategies. Prepare strategic reports and presentations for supplier and internal meetings.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, key supplier management, risk management, and cost optimization at a regional or global level.
- Advanced knowledge of cost analysis models (TCO, Should Cost, and Category Management Frameworks).
- Proven experience in high-impact negotiations and developing strategic supplier partnerships.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, ERP systems (SAP Ariba, Coupa, or other digital procurement tools), and advanced Excel.
- Ability to lead sustainable sourcing initiatives and supply chain risk management.
