George Fisher Mine (GFM) is one of the world's largest underground zinc, lead and silver mines. As part of Glencore's Mount Isa Mines operation, George Fisher is recognised globally for its large-scale mechanised underground mining, technical excellence and commitment to continuous improvement.

An opportunity now exists for an exceptional Underground Mine Manager to lead one of Australia's most technically advanced underground operations.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, productive and profitable delivery of all underground mining activities while leading a large multidisciplinary workforce through the next phase of operational improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide visible safety leadership across the underground operation.
• Lead all underground mining activities including development, production and infrastructure.
• Deliver monthly and annual production plans.
• Drive productivity improvements across the operation.
• Optimise mining methods, sequencing and equipment utilisation.
• Work closely with Technical Services to maximise mine performance.
• Lead and develop a large team of operational leaders, supervisors and mining professionals.
• Manage operational budgets and cost performance.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships across operations, maintenance and processing.

You'll bring:

• Degree in Mining Engineering and Queensland First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (or the ability to obtain one).
• Significant experience leading large mechanised underground mining operations.
• Strong operational leadership capability.
• Experience managing large multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A passion for developing people and building high-performing teams.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen.
• Proven ability to improve productivity, safety and operational performance.
