In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the raw materials are loaded to the correct loading bins which are feeding the furnaces to produce ferrochrome;
  • Ensuring that the stockpiles required for feeding purposes are identified and that the bunker levels are visually inspected in order to prioritize which bins need to be attended to first; thereby minimizing production downtime;
  • Communicating with the Front End Loader driver to ensure that the correct materials are loaded in the day bins, as per the loading instruction stockpile information (ID board), in order to ensure that no contamination occurs.
  • Taking responsibility for identifying and escalating faults with the loading system in order to minimize downtime;
  • Ensuring that the shuttle cars are correctly positioned above the bins and that the flap doors are set to the right side in order to prevent contamination and down times;
  • Monitoring the levels of the bins in order to ensure that they are always maintained at 80% full and to complete a bin control for each material loaded, in order to promote the achievement of production targets;
  • Ensuring good housekeeping on the floor and the surroundings in order to promote safety at work;
  • Ensuring an accurate and complete handover to the change of shift in respect of goods received, bin levels and new stockpiles created in order to ensure that contamination does not occur due to miscommunication; and 
  • Ensuring that the feed bin is cleaned and prepared before loading new types of material into it in order to ensure that no contamination occurs.

 

About you:

  • Grade 12;
  • Minimum of 6 months plant experience;
  • Knowledge of HSEC Systems;
  • Proficient in English; and
  • Medically fit in terms of OHS Act.
