On 14 October, Glencore began trading on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).
For Australian investors, Glencore CEO Gary Nagle ringing the ASX opening bell marked a new way to participate in Glencore’s future.
“Glencore has been investing in Australia for decades and we know the Australian investment community has a sophisticated understanding of global resources and commodity markets,” said Nagle.
So, the listing is less an introduction than an acknowledgement of a relationship that has been building for nearly three decades, shaped by years of investment, partnerships, growth, and the efforts of thousands of people across Australia.

A sprawling footprint
A sprawling footprint
From coal mines in New South Wales and Queensland, to copper and zinc operations in north-west Queensland and the Northern Territory, and nickel and cobalt production in Western Australia, Australia has long been one of Glencore's most important operating regions.
Australia is also home to the Glencore Technology business, which offers a range of mineral processing technology solutions to global smelters and refineries, and Glencore's oil business, which is one of the largest importers of liquid fuels into Australia.
Glencore’s Australian story first began in the mid-1990s with investments in a number of coal mines in New South Wales and Queensland, as well as the Murrin Murrin Joint Venture, a nickel and cobalt operation in Western Australia.
Today Glencore is one of Australia’s largest producers and marketers of natural resources, providing jobs for more than 16,500 people across 16 active mining operations and seven metals processing facilities.
The scale of this presence is reflected not only in the range of commodities produced, but also in the role Glencore’s Australian operations play in connecting resources to global markets. Glencore Australia produce and export products that play an important role in advancing everyday life.
Thirty years of contribution
Thirty years of contribution
The ASX listing is also an opportunity to recognise the contribution made by Glencore’s people and operations across Australia over the years.
Over the past five years, Glencore has directly contributed A$95 billion to the Australian economy, including support for more than 6,440 Australian-based businesses and payment of over A$24 billion in taxes and royalties to Australian governments.
In 2025 alone, Glencore's Australian operations made direct socio-economic contributions of A$19.3 billion to local, regional, state and national economies in Australia.
Behind those figures are thousands of employees and contractors working across mines, processing facilities, offices, ports and supply chains, as well as the communities that have helped shape our business over the past 30 years.
The next chapter
The next chapter
Australia remains central to Glencore. It is where the company produces many of the commodities that advance everyday life, where it keeps investing, and where thousands of people create value every day.
The ASX listing marks an important moment in that journey. Not the beginning of a new relationship, but the next chapter in one that has been more than 30 years in the making.
