Providing training and resources to support suppliers

We engage with our suppliers to build their capacity, help them understand and comply with our requirements and continually improve their practices. We provide support in a range of ways, that include:

  • Support during due diligence: We provide our suppliers of goods and services identified as having a high risk of human rights violations with template clauses prohibiting modern slavery and child labour that they can use in their own contracts with their suppliers.
  • Tailored training: We provide training to our suppliers, tailored to the local context. For example, in 2024, our African copper assets trained over 300 supplier representatives, with the training delivered in both French and Swahili. Read more here: Mpemba case study
  • Access to third-party resources: We have collated and made available a range of reputable, free-to-use third-party resources to help small to medium enterprises develop their own labour rights, health and safety and human rights-related processes.
