The Role

George Fisher Mine are currently seeking a suitably qualified Supervisor for our GFM Communications Team to work in the Maintenance department. This is a great career opportunity to develop leadership skills in the communications field. Reporting to Superintendent – Electrical Maintenance. This role will see you utilising your highly developed leadership and technical skills to lead a committed team of tradespeople for service delivery to George Fisher Mine Operations (GFM). This is a residential position based in Mount Isa, working a roster of 7 days on , 7 days off, day shift only roster. The GFM communications team provides support to the operation through delivery of voice, data and automation services via extensive networks of copper and fibre optic infrastructure. These networks support a number safety and business critical systems.


Your key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for safety leadership across GFM and for the health and safety of the GFM Communication team.
  • Responsible for providing visible leadership and ensuring compliance to GFM policies, standards and procedures for the GFM Communication team.
  • Responsible on a daily basis for compliance to the weekly schedule to achieve established key performance indicators and compliance with forecast costs.
  • Responsible for communicating accurate and relevant information and insight to line management on daily performance and against the weekly schedule.
  • Responsible for developing a positive team culture in line with Glencore values including mentoring and coaching to build employee role competency.
  • Responsible for the optimisation of assigned resources and continuous improvement to minimise cost and waste.

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Relevant communications qualification.
  • A complete understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) principles and experience with VHF 2 way radio systems.
  • Extensive knowledge around installation and maintenance of copper and fibre optic infrastructure.
  • A working knowledge of IP networking, installation and maintenance of associated hardware.
  • A working knowledge of LAN’s installation and maintenance of associated hardware.
  • A working knowledge of Loader and Truck Automation, Including Installation and maintenance of the system.
  • Highly developed leadership skills.
  • A strong work ethic and excellent time management skills.
