Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation which utilises truck and excavator mining methods to produce thermal and semi-soft coking coal, which is predominantly exported for domestic power generation and use in steel production. We are located within the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and experienced Operational Technology (OT) Engineer to join our Maintenance Team at MGO. Whether you are currently in a similar role or an experienced OT Technician ready to take the next step in your career, we encourage you to apply.

As part of the Maintenance team, this site-based position operates on a Monday to Friday dayshift roster across both the Open Cut and CHPP areas.

This position requires multitasking and the following of all policies and procedures implemented and maintained in accordance with the Glencore Management Framework.

The requirements for success in this role:

Your success in this role will be driven by your ability to manage and administer OT networks across site, while overseeing the design, maintenance, and security of MGO’s OT systems and infrastructure.

About you:

As the OT Engineer, you will understand the importance of clear communication and building strong stakeholder relationships. With a collaborative approach and ability to engage with various departments across site you recognise that not all stakeholders share the same technical background and you adapt your approach to suit your audience.

You will be committed to providing advice and support, identifying and investigating improvement opportunities, and maintaining best practice within the OT field. Drawing on both your engineering expertise and practical experience, you will take pride in supporting the development and mentoring of others within the team.

Essential - Qualifications and/or Experience in:

  • Electrical, Control, Software, IT, or Communication Engineering
  • Networks, industrial ethernet, fibre and wireless communication networks

  • Systems Administration; including server/SAN infrastructure and cyber security practices

  • Clustered virtual environments

  • Maintaining Windows AD user security, accounts, software, and updates

  • Open Cut Mining with fleet management systems (i.e. Leica, Modular, Minestar, Wenco)

Key Skills and Capabilities

  • Proficiency in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and advanced computing skills, including MS CMD, Linux command line, SSH, and PowerShell

  • Ability to interpret industry-standard documentation and best practices and apply them within a heavy industrial environment

  • Demonstrated capability in designing, analysing, and developing bespoke software solutions

  • Project management skills, including developing, monitoring, and managing budgets

  • Experience reviewing asset management plans, conducting inspections and audits, and developing annual budgets for OT and IT equipment

  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure with competing priorities, including working outside normal business hours from time to time
