Position Overview
Reporting to the Analytical Lab Supervisor, the primary duties of this position are to provide metallurgical analyses, mine and environmental water samples using spectroscopy, gravimetric, volumetric, and other approved techniques as set out in the analytical methodology manual. Additional job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Follow safety guidelines as set out by the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Takes part in and implements changes in the laboratory safety manual.
- Provide accurate and precise data following protocol set out in analytical methods.
- Establish and maintain good lines of communication with colleagues, senior analysts, production personnel, end user customers and systems information personnel.
- Keep updates of changes in methodology and ensures familiarity with the working aspects of newly purchased instrumentation in both operation and routine maintenance
- Ensure the timely reporting of backlogged samples in order to meet customers needs.
- Follow and practice all the elements of the Environmental Management System in accordance to site & ISO 14001 governing policies
- Perform requested tests accurately and with precision.
- Maintains QC charts and interprets data to react to off spec or out of range assay results.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have:
- A minimum requirement of a 2-year Chemical Technician diploma or the equivalent in combined education and work experience.
- Excellent computer skills using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
- Experience operating any of the following analytical instruments is considered an asset - Atomic Absorption spectroscopy, ICP OES, X-Ray fluorescence.

Wage will vary depending on experience, education and certification. Salary range $64,000-$78,000 annually.
