About the Role:  

 

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentices work alongside Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanics in maintaining our fleet of mining equipment in a shop or field environment.

 

Schedule: 4x4 shift schedule consisting of days and nights.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies 
  • Perform duties that range from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics 
  • Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubrication systems 
  • Providing innovative solutions and best practices  
  • Diagnose, maintain and repair mobile off road mining equipment including haul trucks, graders, bulldozers, excavators, shovels, loaders, and other heavy equipment 
  • Working with brands including CAT, Komatsu, P&H, Hitachi, and others 

Requirements:

  • Registered 3rd or 4th year Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice  
  • Valid driver's license  

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with off‑road heavy equipment
  • Background in mining, construction, agriculture, forestry, oil & gas, or other heavy‑industry environments
  • Diesel engine experience will be considered for candidates looking to transition into off‑road work

Work Location:

The position is site-based at our operations in the Elk Valley, and the ability to reliably commute to or relocate near Sparwood, B.C. is necessary. To support relocation, EVR offers several temporary housing resources: 

 

  • EVR rental units: Company-owned rental units available to new hires for short-term transition support (subject to availability) 
  • Elk Valley Lodge: Employees may have the option to rent a room at our Elk Valley Lodge in Elkford (subject to availability) 
  • Community rental list: EVR maintains a list of community-owned rental accommodations that we can provide to assist with your housing search

Base earnings reflected in salary range includes the hourly wage plus applicable shift premiums and will differ depending on location. It is calculated using a reasonably expected number of hours worked per year.
