Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Mobile Maintenance/HME planning Superintendent, the Mobile Maintenance Planner is responsible for ensuring the planning schedules for MUMI mobile equipment are achieved against set performance targets and KPI’s. To optimize the availability of mobile equipment by creating comprehensive and integrated work plans to achieve maintenance and service objectives, integrating elements such as routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, major and minor repairs and overhauls, fleet commissioning, special projects and short-term maintenance.

 

Minimum qualification

 

     Technical Degree in mechanical engineering, maintenance or related field

       University degree in mechanics or ectricity would an advantage

 

Required Experience

 

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in mobile equipment maintenance (mining trucks, loaders, excavators, heavy vehicles)
  • Experience in a planning or scheduling role or demonstrated ability to step into a planning position.
  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance strategies would be an asset

 

 Required skills

 

  • Ability to develop maintenance schedules and job plans,
  • Skilled in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS),
  • Understanding of mobile equipment systems (e.g. engines, hydraulics, electrical, drive trains),
  • Familiarity with OEM manuals and service guidelines,
  • Ability to identify and plan for the required spare parts, tools, and materials
  • Competence in reading and interpreting; (technical drawings, schematics, work procedures and services bulletins)
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization,
  • Ability to manage multiple maintenance jobs and schedules simultaneously,
  • Clear communicator with maintenance teams, operator, and procurement,
  • Capable of writing clear work orders and technical instructions
  • Analytical mindset to anticipate maintenance needs and troubleshoot planning gaps
  • Precise in documenting maintenance activities, job histories, and parts usage
  • Knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulic, and pneumatics,
  • Team player with effective communication skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills in French. Knowledge of English would be an advantage
  • Ability to remain alert to hazards related to operations and take all necessary safety precautions

 

 Key Responsibilities

 

·        Develop, update, and manage preventive maintenance schedules for mobile equipment,

·        Plan and coordinate corrective, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance,

·        Prioritize maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and impact on operations

·        Track progress, close out jobs, and update maintenance histories.

·        Ensure parts, tools, and labor are available before schedules maintenance,

·        Liaise with the warehouse, procurement, and workshop teams to avoid delays,

·        Monitor accurate records of all maintenance activities

·        Ensure compliance with OEM recommendations, safety protocols, and legal standards,

·        Monitor equipment health and maintenance trends,

·        Support condition-based and predictive maintenance strategies,

·        Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities,

·        Provide insights into continuous improvement of maintenance practices,

·        Participate in daily/ weekly planning meetings to align schedules and priorities

·        Incorporate safe work practices and risk assessments in jobs plans.

·        Comply with Glencore’s environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL’s environmental policy.
