Candidates are invited to apply for Bursary opportunities that are offered by the Company for students going into the first year of their studies as well as students already in university in the following disciplines:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering

 
To be considered, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12.
  • Minimum of a 6 symbol for Mathematics and Physical Science and as per the requirements of the institution to which you are applying’ for Engineering fields.
  • Minimum of a 5 symbol for Mathematics and Physical Science for Mining and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • An average year mark of 60% and above for students already in University doing 2nd or 3rd year of their studies.
  • A CV with Grade 12 Certificate or latest academic transcript from the University if you are already studying at a University.
  • Preference will be given to applicants residing in the local communities where Glencore Coal Operations South Africa are located – proof of residence to be submitted with application.
  • Applicants already supported by another organisation/company will not be considered.
  • Selection will be in line with the future talent and Employment Equity requirements of the Company.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo assessments and interviews as part of the selection process.

 
The Bursary covers the following:

  • Tuition fees.
  • Meals and accommodation.
  • Prescribed textbooks.
  • Payment of any compulsory excursions or seminars, which may be required.
  • A Personal allowance.
