Mine Geologist

 

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. Located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola, MRM produces and processes zinc, lead, and silver from our open-cut mine. Our products are then transported to the Bing Bong loading facility and shipped worldwide, used in everyday products across mobility, infrastructure, and communications.

About The Role:


We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mine Geologist to join our team at McArthur River Mine. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geology and a passion for ensuring the safety and efficiency of mining operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Liaising with key mining personnel to minimise dilution and maximise the grade and ore recovery.
  • Managing and developing the site Grade Control System in line with the Mine Management Plan.
  • Managing statutory reporting requirements on exploration tenements and mining leases.
  • Developing site models, including Geology, Grade Control, Resource, OEF and Clay models.
  • Designing and managing drilling campaigns.

 

About You:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mining environment (preferably open pit).
  • Strong understanding of geological processes and data management.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to safety and the environment.
  • Experience with software such as Vulcan, Leapfrog, and DataShed is highly desirable.
