 Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent – KTC Strategic Projects, the incumbent will be responsible for providing advanced metallurgical support focused on continuous improvement, process optimization and technical innovation at the KTC plant.

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

·       Lead Metallurgical Improvement Projects:

Ø  Identify and evaluate opportunities for process and technology improvements.

Ø  Develop business cases and implement R&D and pilot-scale projects.

Ø  Collaborate with plant operations, engineering teams, and OEMs.

Ø  Ensure timely execution, benefit tracking and closure of improvement initiatives.

Ø  Plan and coordinate the different phases of projects and ensure that deadlines are met.

·       Metallurgical Testwork Coordination

Ø  Plan, coordinate, and supervise metallurgical test programs in internal and external laboratories.

Ø  Ensure alignment of test programs with plant priorities.

Ø  Review and validate test results to ensure consistency and accuracy.

·       Technical Analysis and Reporting

Ø  Oversee validation and analysis of operational data.

Ø  Compile, interpret and present technical reports with actionable recommendations.

Ø  Support metal reconciliation and mass balance tracking.

·       Strategic Support and Innovation

Ø  Contribute to strategic projects related to process efficiency, recovery improvements and technology upgrades.

Ø  Integrate innovations and industry best practices into plant systems and procedures.

Ø  Participate in cross-functional benchmarking and strategic planning sessions.

·       Team Development and Capacity Building

Ø  Mentor junior metallurgists to build technical capability.

Ø  Facilitate workshops on technical tools, metallurgical software and safety practices.

Ø  Promote a culture of continuous learning and process ownership.

·       Administrative and Ad-Hoc Responsibilities

Ø  Support additional assignments as assigned by management.

Ø  Ensure alignment of initiatives with the overall Technical Services objectives.

 

 

Job requirements.

 

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

·       Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering;

·       Minimum (5) years of professional experience in the metallurgical industry, with proven expertise in copper and cobalt processing, and project management; experience in technical leadership is an advantage;

·       Proficient in ore processing and metallurgical processes;

·       Proficiency in process design, mass balancing, reconciliation and test program management;

·       Strong knowledge of R&D, process development, quality control and continuous improvement methodologies;

·       Experience in drafting technical reports, business cases and presentations.

·       Familiarity with regulations and standards applicable to metal accounting and inventory management (e.g., Amira P754) would be an asset;

·       Knowledge of basic accounting principles;

·       Bilingual proficiency in French and English is preferred.

 

 

Technical skills.

 

 

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio);

·       Skilled in process simulation software and interpretation of design documents;

·       Competent in technical documentation, project scoping, scheduling and HAZOPs;

·       Strong communication and problem-solving capabilities;

·       Experience working with internal stakeholders, suppliers and contractors.
