The Role
A 3-month secondment opportunity is currently available within our Copper Smelter team for the position of Superintendent - Electrical Maintenance. This exciting role offers the chance to join the Copper Smelter leadership team, reporting directly to the Copper Smelter Manager. In this position, you will collaborate with all Copper Smelter departments as well as various teams across the Mount Isa site to safely and effectively achieve the copper smelter's safety, environmental, and production targets.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure achievement of safety, environmental, and production targets.
- Promote electrical safety and ensure statutory compliance.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and compliance audits.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Provide mentoring, guidance, and technical support to Electrical Supervisors.
- Lead by example to build and maintain an effective, high-performing team.
- Promote a positive, constructive workplace culture through coaching and role modelling.
- Manage crew performance, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee the execution of operational and capital projects (OPEX & CAPEX).
- Support the achievement of maintenance and production targets in collaboration with supervisors and the broader management team.
- Identify, plan, and implement electrical continuous improvement initiatives.
- Financial Stewardship:
- Maintain budget control across both operational expenditure (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects.
- Ensure cost-effective resource utilization while delivering on project and maintenance objectives.
- Identify P150 projects for Continuous cost reduction

What we need from you:
- Glencore Electrical Supervisor with a minimum of 3 years of experience
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project, Excel and Word
- Safety as a core personal value
- Ability to work within an integrated and diverse team while meeting challenging deadlines
- Strong decision-making skills, with a commitment to high-quality work and exceptional communication skills (both oral and written), along with a focus on continuous improvement
- Highly organized with effective time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have’s:
- Knowledge in Yokogawa DCS programming & PLC programming
- Prior experience in similar role – Metallurgical plant electrical supervisor
- Shift breakdown experience
