Job Description
Reporting to, and being the trusted advisor to the General Manager, the Commercial Manager is the most senior finance professional on the mine site, with responsibilities that include financial control and compliance along with the management of the Finance, Procurement, Warehouse and IS&T teams. The Commercial Manager will oversee the preparation and delivery of life of mine plans, annual budgets and reforecasts supporting the operation with accurate cost models and robust cost control systems.
About the Role
As the Commercial Manager at HVO, it will be your role to:

Provide strong and effective leadership to the site Commercial team, comprising of the finance, procurement, warehouse and IS&T teams.

Actively participate as a key member of the site leadership team, working collaboratively with the General Manager and Financial Controller to optimise business performance.

Build strong relationships between commercial and other operational and support departments within the operation.

Drive the achievement of business results by ensuring robust business decision making capacity in key stakeholders via coaching, information sharing and performance monitoring.

Ensure that the performance and development requirements for all members of the Commercial team are established and implemented, including personally coaching team members where appropriate.

Partner closely with Department Managers to provide timely and accurate information to support commercial decision making and business improvement.
The specific responsibilities of the role will include:

Managing the end to end commercial/finance function of the HVO Joint Venture.

Management reporting (mine production, financial performance), specifically cost reporting
-
Budgeting and Forecasting (mine production, costs, capital and risks), including the Life of Mine plan
-
Lead the Procurement, Contracts and Warehouse function through the Supply Superintendent
-
Provide on-site management for the site IS&T function
-
Drive compliance with commercial policies and procedures

Auditing (both internal and external)

Monday to Friday day shift roster

Based on site at HVO (1011 Lemington Road, 30kms West of Singleton)
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
-
A minimum of 2 years experience in an equivalent role at a mine site which has at least 500 employees.

A full member of one of the professional accounting bodies (CPA, CA).
-
A sound understanding of mining processes and technology used in mining activities.
-
Demonstrated leadership capabilities – including the ability to engage with, motivate and develop your team, including Culture improvements.

A high level of interpersonal communication and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels across multiple departments as well as engaging and influencing key external stakeholders.

A high degree of personal motivation with the ability to successfully drive change.

Demonstrated experience leading Procurement, Contracts and Warehouse functions, with IS&T management is desirable.

Proven experience in a large ERP system (SAP preferred). Xeras experience is highly desirable.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
-
Advanced time management and prioritisation skills.
-
A high level of computer literacy.

Experience in systems improvement.
