Summary

In details, the position encompasses duties and responsibilities as follows:
 

The ship operator will work as part of a global team and will be responsible for the efficient delivery of day to day operations of the ST Shipping and Transport fleet of oil tankers. Operators provide direct cover for all vessels in region and monitoring for vessels out of region operated by teams in other regions.

The ideal candidate disposes of:

  • collecting and submitting information, certificates and questionnaires to assist in confirming the vessel’s future voyage(s) with external and internal charterers;
  • working with operations brokers to obtain voyage orders for the vessel and pass same to the captain for execution;
  • dealing with local agents at all ports of call to ensure that the vessel is properly attended to and that all relevant in port requirements/needs are met and arranged;
  • liaising with the ST bunker team to plan and supply the vessel with fuel at the most economical ports and prices;
  • keeping track of the voyage PnL to ensure that this is up to date and to ensure the vessel is earning the money that was projected;
  • generating the freight invoice, accruing for and invoicing other items such as interim port time/bunkers/costs, cargo heating costs, etc.;
  • dealing with the head owners of the vessels with regards to money that is due to them for hire, or due to ST for off-hire;
  • monitoring the oil major approval status of the vessels and ensuring the vessel is being inspected regularly to ensure that it maintains valid.

Skills:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent), as a minimum requirement
  • Experienced ship Operator (3-5 years)
  • Sea faring background - advantageous
