The role in a nutshell
In this role, you will be part of Glencore Zinc’s SAP S4/HANA Global Support team handling day-to-day incidents as well as system enhancement / continuous improvement opportunities that require Technical (ABAP) Development skills.
In this role, you will be instrumental in developing solutions for Glencore's diverse systems working collaboratively with other Functional and Technical team members.
Your expertise in SAP development across different SAP modules will be crucial in driving successful new development initiatives and maintaining the current SAP landscape.?
More specifically, you will be expected to:
- Work collaboratively with Functional and Technical team members to build SAP solutions that meet business requirements;
- Enhance existing custom SAP solutions in response to business requests;
- Utilise your expertise to efficiently resolve incidents with that required technical development support;
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and other ad hoc related-projects.
Do you have what it takes?
- Completed studies in a relevant field;
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in SAP ECC or SAP S4/HANA;
- ABAP development at least 5 years on SAP ECC or S4/HANA;
- FIORI development minimum 1 project;
- FORMS (SapScript, SMARTFORMS, Adobe Forms) development at least 2 years;
- ABAP OO Programing at least 2 years;
- Enhancement framework on SAP - Knowledge and implementation experience;
- BAPI usage in SAP;
- ABAP best practices and 7.5 development;
- Usage of Design Patterns;
- IDOC and WebService integration in SAP (advantageous);
- Webdynpro ABAP development (advantageous);
- Experience in other programing languages (advantageous).
- Demonstrated experience developing solutions in at least two of the following modules: FI/CO, PS, MM, PM or SD;
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision to deliver high quality SAP solutions to meet customer needs, in line with defined architectural standards;
- Ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a global team;
- High attention to detail and a positive attitude;
- Critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.
Language : As you will be part of a global team, you will be required to communicate fluently in English (verbal and written). Knowledge of other languages such as French, German and/or Spanish is desirable.
Travel: Some occasional travelling may be required.

Get to know us
Recently, Glencore’s Zinc division has embarked in a system replacement globally with the implementation of SAP S/4 HANA and Coupa as the main backbone to support industrial business operations globally. The solution has been deployed in some parts of the business in Q4 2023 and we are continuing our journey to roll-out the global solution to all sites to cover Australia, Spain, UK, Germany, Italy and Canada.
The global AMS team is formed by functional teams located in the north of Spain, Australia and Canada, combined with a central team located in Malaga. This new Group supports the business users globally from an applications management support perspective.
