About Glencore Capital Projects Group (CPG)
The Capital Projects Group (CPG) is Glencore’s dedicated organisation for developing and delivering selected major capital projects across its global Commodity Departments. Working within the Life of Asset (LOA) management process, CPG will typically begin supporting selected major projects post concept development when a project is gated to the pre-Feasibility stage (PFS entry). Collaborating deeply with the respective Commodity Department and regional team, CPG is able to shape, develop and execute, major projects from PFS onwards, into Feasibility and then Execution and handover, deploying organisation capability and project management expertise to achieve targeted outcomes safely and with predictable capital productivity.

Operating with agility and deep expertise, CPG will collaborate with each Commodity Department to develop fit for purpose delivery models that leverage and maximise regional capabilities and skills for each project that it either supports or is accountable for. As Glencore’s portfolio and LOA plans evolve, CPG will strive to continue enhance its impact and influence, driving safe, responsible and sustainable project delivery to the business.


Senior Mechanical Engineer, MARA Project

Qualifications
•    Professional Mechanical Engineering degree
•    15+ years relevant experience, ideally in copper concentrator plants
•    Fluent in English; Spanish preferred
•    Strong knowledge of international mechanical standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, etc.)


Main objective of the job
To lead the mechanical engineering scope of base and precious metals processing projects, ensuring technical excellence, project alignment, and operational readiness through design, planning, and mentorship.

•    EPCM projects in copper/base/precious metals
•    From study phases (scoping to feasibility) through execution
•    Multidisciplinary and multinational teams
•    High focus on health, safety, environment, and community

•    Mechanical design standards/specifications
•    Project scope, schedule, and budget adherence
•    Risk and change management
•    Engineering deliverable quality and compliance


Experience and skills
•    Strong background in copper concentrator mechanical systems (crushing, grinding, flotation, filtration)
•    Familiar with PLM, RCM, FEA, CFD, CAM
•    Experienced in OpEx/CapEx, equipment sizing, and budgeting
•    Skilled in MS Project, Excel, Word, and engineering tools
•    Capable of technical leadership and mentoring
•    Proven stakeholder and third-party coordination


Key accountabilities
1.    Approve design criteria, equipment specs, and technical deliverables
2.    Lead mechanical design, procurement input, and contractor coordination
3.    Manage mechanical discipline within project framework
4.    Review project costs, reports, and bid evaluations
5.    Ensure compliance with international codes and company standards
6.    Promote innovation, safety, and sustainability practices
7.    Support strategic reviews, trade-off studies, and risk analysis
8.    Provide senior-level input on maintenance, reliability, and operations
