We’re seeking a skilled and safety-driven Supervisor – Demolition Projects to oversee the safe delivery of complex decommissioning, deactivation, decontamination, and demolition (D4) activities across a diverse range of surface assets.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a specialist group responsible for bringing end-of-life infrastructure to a safe and compliant condition, supporting the site’s long-term closure and renewal strategy.
About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent – Demolition Projects, you will supervise multidisciplinary teams and contractors executing demolition works across multiple operational areas, including projects within the Mica Creek Power Station and the broader Mount Isa Mines lease.
Working a flexible 8/6 day-shift roster (other roster options available), you will oversee projects from initial planning to safe execution and close-out. Each day will present a new challenge – from asset isolation and structural removal to environmental waste management and workflow optimisation – ensuring variety and continuous professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership: Champion a strong safety culture across all decommissioning and demolition activities in line with Glencore Safety Management Systems and site procedures.
- Project Supervision: Plan, coordinate, and oversee contractor activities, ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Scope and Scheduling: Develop and deliver project scopes, schedules, and cost forecasts, managing progress, reporting, and variations as required.
- Quality and Compliance: Implement and maintain quality assurance and control processes aligned with company expectations.
- Team Leadership: Motivate, mentor, and supervise multi-trade crews to deliver high-quality outcomes and maintain professional standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement workflow improvements, efficiencies, and innovative demolition methodologies through audits, inspections, and lessons learned.
About You
- Trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, or construction desired.
- S1, S2, S3 (Site Supervisor) qualifications are required.
- Demonstrated experience supervising construction, shutdown, or demolition projects in a mining, processing, or heavy industrial environment.
- Proven capability in project planning, scheduling, and cost management.
- Effective leadership and contractor management skills with a focus on teamwork and communication.
- High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office and project management tools).
- Sound understanding of contract management, WHS compliance, and risk control.
- A forward-thinking mindset with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
