Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

MUMI is recruiting a: " Breakdown Mechanic (Light Vehicle Garage)"

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Mechanical Section Team Leader, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance (maintenance and inspections), corrective (troubleshooting, repair, reconditioning) tasks of vehicles. This position ensures that vehicles are available within the agreed timeframe so as not to interfere with operations.

 

Minimum qualification

 

  •  State Diploma in Automotive Mechanics.

Required Experience

 

  • Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in vehicle maintenance, preferably in the mining sector.
  • Proven experience in vehicle diagnosis and repair.

 

 

 

 

 Required skills

 

  • Knowledge of diesel, hydraulic and pneumatic engine systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and troubleshooting skills under pressure.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Team spirit
  • Oral and written communication skills in French. Knowledge of English would be an advantage
  • Ability to remain alert to hazards related to operations and take all necessary safety precautions
  • Knowledge of truck mechanics and semi-mobile equipment.

 

 Key Responsibilities

 

  • Check for faults according to the pre-start checklist, diagnose to repair vehicles.
  • Check the condition of the equipment after repair.
  • Replace defective parts.
  • Implement safety instructions when performing tasks.
  • Perform special tasks under the supervision of the team leader.
  • Use tools responsibly.
  • Adopt safe behaviours in accordance with Glencore standards.
  • Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
