Project Controls Manager – MARA Project

Reports to: Project Director – MARA Project
Main Objective of the Job
The Project Controls Manager is responsible for managing the project controls function for the MARA Project.
This role ensures the effective implementation of cost control, scheduling, risk, and change management practices, enabling timely and budget-conscious delivery in alignment with project execution standards. The role will establish and oversee controls systems, tools, and reporting frameworks to support the overall success of the project.
Operating Context
This role works closely with the MARA Project Director and interfaces with key internal stakeholders across regional and corporate teams, including Project Services, Finance, Technical Services, Procurement, and external consultants/contractors. It requires proactive alignment integrating global project controls standards with local execution needs to enable effective capital deployment and governance.
Qualifications / Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Finance, Construction, Project Management, or a related discipline
- Project management certification (AACE, PMI) preferred
- 15+ years in project controls roles on mining, infrastructure, or large-scale industrial projects
- In-depth knowledge of project controls systems, tools, and methodologies
- Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
- Experience working across multi-disciplinary and geographically distributed teams
- Experience on South American projects preferred
- Experience leading Project Controls during PFS and Execution phases is required
- Ability to travel to site in high-altitude
Experience
- Proven track record delivering project controls for mega-projects, including greenfield developments
- Strong background in cost estimating, forecasting, scheduling, risk, and change management
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing project controls teams
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong commercial, analytical, and strategic thinking capabilities
Key Accountabilities
- Execute Project Controls Programs
Implement cost, schedule, and change control programs aligned with project and controls requirements. - Reporting & Transparency
Ensure accurate and standardized project controls reporting to support timely decision-making. - Strategic Advice
Provide data-driven insights to support project prioritization, risk mitigation, and capital allocation. - Project Support
Embed project controls frameworks into the project to enable successful execution. - Risk Management
Lead project risk management processes, including identification, analysis, response planning, and regular reviews. - Tools & Templates
Develop and standardize templates for planning, cost, risk, and forecasting across the project. - Innovation & Improvement
Drive improvements in project delivery through the use of modern tools, systems, and best practices. - Culture & Capability
Foster a culture of continuous improvement. Mentor and support capability development across the project team in project controls and capital governance.

Travel Requirements
- Regular travel to site in San Juan and to other Glencore or EPC/EPCM offices is to be expected
