About the role:   
  
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Powerline Technicians are responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission systems across the mine site. 

Schedule: This is a full-time hourly position that offers an attractive 4*4 schedule consisting of days only. 
  
The position is site-based at our operations in the Elk Valley, and the ability to reliably commute to or relocate near Sparwood, B.C is necessary.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies 
  • Install and maintain electrical distribution and transmission systems
  • Perform utility operator duties such as working with overhead and underground facilities
  • Operate equipment such as line truck, backhoes, and related line crew equipment 

Requirements:

  • Registered 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year Powerline Technician Apprentice  
  • Valid driver’s license, Class 3 an asset
  • The successful applicant will be required to work in and around equipment, at heights, and perform physically demanding work 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team is required 
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills. Past supervisory experience is an asset 
  • Adaptable and flexible to changing requirements 
  • Experience in power line construction is an asset 
Base earnings reflected in salary range includes the hourly wage plus applicable shift premiums and will differ depending on location. It is calculated using a reasonably expected number of hours worked per year.
