In this role you will be responsible to:
- Lead the mine’s Safety Department in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
- Ensure legal compliance across the operation through effective implementation, coordination and management of the Safety and Health Management System.
- Oversee incident and accident investigations, statutory reporting, safety audits, and analysis of safety statistics.
- Provide visible, proactive safety leadership and coaching across all operational areas.
- Manage Safety Officers, Health & Safety Representatives, and HSEC support staff.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety performance, systems, training, and behavioural culture.
- Advise line management on all matters relating to safety governance, compliance and risk management
About you:
- National Diploma (NQF6) in Safety Management or equivalent
- Blasting Certificate for scheduled mines or Artisan Trade Certificate
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Safety Officer in the mining environment
- Demonstrated literacy in electronic systems, including the ability to analyse data and produce accurate, timely reports.
