We are currently accepting applications for the following position located in the Witbank, Mpumalanga area.

Training Officer - Opencast 

The successful candidate in this role is responsible to analyse and consolidate learning and development needs for Opencast Blasting, coordinating training interventions and ensuring that training materials are available and up to date, delivering training and oversee that the delivery of training interventions as well as assessments and moderation are undertaken to the required internal standards and in line with the legislative framework, i.e. Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) and Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Consolidating the training needs from the Complexes in area of responsibility to enable the formulation of the annual training plan and providing input into the Annual Training Plan and Workplace Skills Plan.
  • Ensuring that course schedules in area of responsibility are developed, loaded, published and available for bookings to be scheduled on SAP and that training materials and assessments are prepared for each training intervention.
  • Ensuring that a fixed asset register is maintained, and that equipment, tools and materials used in training are properly maintained and available.
  • Conducting reviews to identify opportunities to optimise processes and systems by reviewing own system and consulting with the team and providing feedback to the HRD Superintendent.
  • Ongoing engagement with internal stakeholders on their needs and keeping up with external development within the field to ensure that internal processes keep up and meet customer needs.
  • Engaging and liaising with Safety Discipline Supervisors, Middle Management and Development Committee Members to ensure that training materials are reviewed, meeting the skills and competency requirements and addressing organisational and safety challenges and changes.
  • Ensuring that materials, assessment guides and tests are aligned with Glencore Coal SA\s Quality Management Systema (QMS), SETA & QCTO requirements.
  • Ensuring that pre-training assessments, training delivery assessments and moderation are conducted in line with internal procedures, SETA & QCTO requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification.
  • Opencast Blasting Certificate for Coal Mines.
  • Assessor Certificate.
  • Moderator Certificate.
  • Driver’s License (Code EB/08).

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum 5 years mining industry experience, 2 of which must be at least at an Assistant Training Officer level.
  • Good understanding of the business processes and policies related to the blasting practices.
  • Good understand of the Skills Development Action, Sector Education & Training Authority (SETA/MQA) and Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).
  • MS Office proficiency.
