As part of the Glencore Coal Assets Australia IT&S team, this role will be based in one of our corporate offices in Newcastle (preferred) or Brisbane. The successful candidate will support a broad range of Cyber Security services across Glencore Coal Assets Australia sites and offices, working across both operational and strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as the local escalation point for cyber security events, requests, projects, and security reviews

  • Promoting and implementing Global IT security standards, identifying and addressing gaps between global requirements and local implementations

  • Reporting to the Cyber Security Analyst and working closely with the Regional Security Lead and Global IT teams in Switzerland

  • Providing technical security guidance to the broader Glencore Coal Assets Australia IT&S team to support the identification and resolution of security issues

  • Coordinating and supporting vulnerability remediation and mitigation activities across Glencore Coal Assets Australia sites and offices

  • Driving global security awareness and training initiatives for end users and IT&S teams, including phishing simulations and cyber awareness campaigns

  • Leading and supporting cyber security incident response activities, including investigation and root-cause analysis

  • Supporting internal and external IT audits at a regional level

What we’re looking for:

You’ll bring hands-on experience across core cyber security technologies, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a global environment and turn security requirements into practical outcomes.

Technical experience:

  • Securing enterprise Microsoft environments, including Windows access controls, security groups, auditing and organisational design

  • Microsoft 365 security and administration

  • Network security technologies such as firewalls, web proxies and network segmentation

  • Vulnerability management, including remediation and mitigation activities in partnership with local IT teams

  • Conducting technical security assessments, risk evaluations, remediation planning and supporting change management

  • Developing and implementing security policies, standards and procedures that drive real improvement across the business

Knowledge & personal capabilities:

  • Solid understanding of information security frameworks and industry standards

  • Strong interest in emerging cyber security threats, trends and best practices

  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver high-quality outcomes

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal

  • Excellent English language proficiency

Qualifications & experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in IT, preferably with a focus on information or cyber security

  • 2–5 years’ experience in an IT or cyber security role within a global organisation, supporting users across different regions and cultures

  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) and vulnerability scanning tools such as Tenable Nessus

  • Proficient in Microsoft productivity tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
