Reporting to the Data & Automation Team Leader, the Database Administrator will play a key role in supporting business operations through the management, optimisation, and security of enterprise database systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.

  • Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to safeguard business-critical data.

  • Collaborate with applications and infrastructure teams to optimise database design, queries, and system performance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database and infrastructure-related performance issues.

  • Implement and maintain database security standards in line with organisational policies and industry best practices.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement including automation, capacity planning, and database platform optimisation across on-premises, private cloud, and Infrastructure/Platform as a Service environment.

  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of database environments, configurations, and operational procedures.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a motivated and solutions-focused professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to work collaboratively across IT and business teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to improving database reliability, performance, and security.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments in a production setting

  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning, monitoring, and optimisation

  • Experience implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies

  • Knowledge of database security practices and compliance requirements

  • Experience working with cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments, and/or SAP HANA will be highly regarded

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with applications and infrastructure teams

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
