Collinsville Open Cut is located approximately 160km from Airlie Beach in Queensland, a town known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Producing both metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market, the surface mine has a long life and is transitioning from a dragline strip to a truck and shovel terrace operation.

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Training Manager, you will coach and mentor site personnel to drive a proactive safety culture and maintain our Health and Safety Management System (SHMS).

In this role you will:

  • Support supervisors and frontline leaders in risk management, incident investigations, and visible leadership to drive a proactive safety culture.

  • Be a visible leader in high-risk areas to identify hygiene risks and reinforce critical controls and safe behaviours.

  • Participate in audits, inspections, and verification activities for safety systems, hygiene, and emergency preparedness.

  • Continuously refine the Site Health and Safety Management System (SHMS) to align with industry best practices and regulatory changes.

  • Lead injury management and return-to-work programs, focusing on psychosocial health and early intervention strategies.

About You:

  • Proven experience in Health and Safety roles in an open-cut mining environment.

  • Tertiary or certificate qualifications in OH&S is desirable (or related discipline).

  • Strong communication skills - able to develop and maintain relationships.

  • Team-focused - bring a friendly and approachable manner, helping to foster a supportive and collaborative team culture.

  • ICAM Lead Investigator accreditation is desirable.

  • Skilled in incident investigations and risk assessment facilitation.

  • Highly organised and solutions-focused.

  • Value for process and attention to detail.
