Glencore publishes sustainability publications

16 May 2017

Today, Glencore published a number of sustainability-related publications, which are available on our website at: http://www.glencore.com/sustainability/our-progress/reports, along with further information on our sustainability activities.

These documents review our activities and performance during 2016 and provide detailed data on our key sustainability indicators. They have been produced to meet the varying information requests and stakeholder queries that we regularly receive.

  • Sustainability Report 2016 – our seventh annual sustainability report focuses on the issues that have been identified as being material from a sustainability perspective, both at Group level and for each of our commodity businesses. In addition, it includes a selection of commodity-specific case studies to demonstrate how our approach to managing these material topics is implemented on-the-ground. The report is available as both a full report, providing detailed content on our performance during the year and our approach to sustainability, and as a highlights booklet, which provides a succinct overview of our progress during 2016. There is also an accompanying databook.
  • Our Approach to Sustainability – this document setsout our approach to working sustainably. It explains our full thinking on sustainability, from the underlying principles and values upon which we base all our activities, to the details of our approach and the issues that affect our operations. It includes content on our policies, systems and procedures.
  • Climate change considerations for our business 2017 – our second annual report on how Glencore addresses climate-related considerations provides an update on our progress on meeting the commitments of the Aiming for A resolution, passed at our 2016 annual general meeting. In addition, this report considers the impact of existing national policy commitments on our business and an analysis of each of our commodity businesses’ resilience against existing policy scenarios. We detail the steps we are taking to reducing operating emissions, as well as demonstrate that our diverse commodity portfolio is well positioned to take advantage of opportunities associated with transition to low-carbon economy.
  • Modern Slavery Statement 2016 – our first Modern Slavery Statement reflects our commitment to play a role in preventing the occurrence of Modern Slavery and human trafficking. This annual statement sets out Glencore’s approach and the steps taken for the prevention of Modern Slavery in our organisation and supply chain.

Commenting on the publications, Ivan Glasenberg, Chief Executive Officer, said “We take our responsibilities to our people, to society and to the environment very seriously; these responsibilities are core to our approach to doing business. We recognise that our business success requires the prioritisation of the wellbeing of our workforce, the support of and respect from our host communities and working in partnership with our host governments to deliver sustainable socio-economic benefits.”
