 Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Job description.

 

Under the direct supervision of the General Manager Metallurgy, is responsible for providing metallurgical and Technical Support to the Concentrator Processing Operation and enable Concentrator world class performances.

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

1.      Safety

·       Critical control verifications (CCV)

·       Support Site Risk assurance team on Bowties, Critical Controls and Critical controls verification related to key strategic risks for the concentrator

·       Enhance safety work place

·       Unsafe Work Stoppage

·       Embed critical high risk work verification process (HRWV)

·       Embed Visible Felt Leadership within the team with respect to safety (VFLs)

 

2.      Leadership and Team Development

·       Achieve organizational goals through communication of clear expectations and motivation of the team to achieve their goals

·       Educate, Inspire and Motivate the team to work toward complying with KCC values

·       Visible Felt Leadership by Daily Meetings and Regular one on one meetings with each individual in the team

·       Lead the team by example by showing the team hard work, sense of commitment and integrity

·       Implement continuous Improvement culture within the team

·       Implement Effective Succession Plan

·       Implement a training and development plan for the team

 

3.      Processing Operation support and securing of Life-Of-Mine

·       Enable the concentrator operation team to achieved production and plant efficiency goals

·       Monitor critical business KPI's and review weekly with team - achievement and progress

·       Identify key improvement projects around the concentrator and support Metallurgy Technical Service team and project team with right inputs, information and guidance for effective design and execution of the project

·       Sustain continuous Improvement environment within the concentrator

·       Implement good operating strategy focusing on maximum throughput, maximum recovery, optimal concentrate quality with most minimum economical feed grade

·       Sustain high density slurry discharged into tailings storage facility to secure its life

·       Ensure optimized freshwater consumption and water balance across the concentrator

·       Monthly Processing Performance Reports and Technical review

·       Ensure world class Reports and Memorandums issued by the metallurgy team on critical processing troubleshooting and investigations

 

4.      Cost reduction

·       Identify and Lead cost reduction initiatives

·       Support Metallurgy reagents management team with accurate inputs for good reagents to recasting to minimize overstock on site or stock running out

·       Optimize reagents consumption within the concentrator

·       Drive optimization of mills liners design and grinding media quality for optimum cost associated

·       Sustain Cost control culture within the concentrator operation team.

 

5.      Environment

·       Ensure Efficient control of Quality of final solids and liquid Effluents discharged to the tailing’s storage facility

·       Support the Processing Operation team to minimize Environmental Incidents around the concentrator processing plant

·       Optimized freshwater consumption and water balance across the concentrator.

 

 

Job requirements.

 

Qualifications and experience.

·       Education: Bachelor Degree in Science – Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering

·       Five (5) years experience in the field and management position

·       Knowledge of ore processing and metallurgy processes

·       Knowledge of spreadsheets (computer skills)

·       Knowledge of Metal Accounting

·       Knowledge of Cost Analysis

·       Knowledge of Process Throubleshooting

·       Knowledge of Risks Management

·       Leadership

 

Technical skills.

·       Strong computer skills

·       Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (especially Excel)

·       Fluent knowledge of English (Writing and speaking) is a strong advantage
