Environment and Community Officer (Fixed Term Contract: 12 months)

Mount Owen Glendell Operations (MGO) Mine located in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, 20 kilometres north of Singleton, contains the Mt Owen, Ravensworth East and Glendell mines. The integration of these operations enables all sites to use a single coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP) and infrastructure at Mt Owen Mine. An exciting opportunity exists for an Environment and Community Officer to join the MGO Team on a 12-month fixed term contract. Working within the MGO Complex E&C Team this role reports to the Environment and Community Coordinator.

As the Environment and Community Officer your primary responsibilities will be to assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Environmental Management System including compliance monitoring, audits, buffer lands management, biodiversity offset management and cultural heritage.

The requirements for success in this role include:

  • Relevant experience in a similar role.

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or engineering.

  • Understanding of the environment and community aspects in the mining industry.

  • Experience working with Glencore’s Environment and Community Systems.

  • Working knowledge of the NSW legislative requirements.

  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
