An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and qualified Mechanical Engineering Manager (MEM) to work at the Oaky Creek North Mine. You must ensure that all applicable statutory requirements are maintained to achieve the levels of safety, reliability, and performance expected of a world class coal mining operation.
The Role
Your prior experience, technical knowledge, and people management skills will be integral to your success as a key role model within the Engineering and Maintenance team at Oaky Creek Coal.
Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, the core purpose of this important role is to:
· develop and oversee the statutory compliance of all onsite mechanical equipment;
· always monitor and uphold mechanical engineering standards in all areas;
· ensure practical and robust maintenance strategies are in place for all mechanical equipment including all aspects of structural integrity.
In addition to the above, you will also lead and mentor the diesel workshop operational team to drive a high performing work culture which will ensure that equipment reliability of our underground diesel fleet is optimised whilst also maintaining a happy and stable team environment.
About You

As the successful Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will have:
· A sound knowledge of performing the same or similar roles in an underground Longwall coal operation
· A sound knowledge of risk identification processes, safe work practices and relevant Australian standards
· Strong leadership skills and be able to demonstrate success in leading a team to achieve high levels of equipment availability all while meeting key performance indicators
· A strong work ethic, high levels of resourcefulness, versatility, initiative, personal organisation, and diplomacy
You will possess the following experience as a minimum;
· Five years of practical mining experience with at least two years in installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of mechanical plant. Within those two years, one year must include mechanical plant experience, with at least six months at an extraction face during production or development
· A minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory role, managing mechanical plant at an underground coal mine
You will possess one of the following qualifications as a minimum:
· A Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) degree (or higher)
· An equivalent qualification, such as the MEM60112 Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Mechanical) or Associate Diploma of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
· A trade qualification and relevant post-trade certification (if Australian Qualifications Framework level 6 or higher is not held)
· A Mechanical Engineering Manager (MEM) Certificate of Competency for QLD coal mining is highly desirable but not essential
