XPS is seeking a Chief Hydrometallurgist to join our team in Sudbury, Ontario.  This is an opportunity to lead consulting assignments ranging from strategic studies and process development to operating plant optimization and business growth initiatives.  You will work directly with clients, mentor technical professionals and play a key role in expanding XPS's hydrometallurgical consulting practice.

What you will do
As Chief Hydrometallurgist you will provide technical leadership while supporting the growth and success of our consulting business.

Technical Leadership

- Develop bench scale, laboratory, and pilot plant testing program for hydrometallurgical processes
- Lead process development, flowsheet design, and process optimization initiatives
- Conduct studies focused on throughput improvements, productivity enhancement, impurity management and operational performance
- Provide technical leadership for process modelling, process design and metallurgical assessments
- Deliver practical solutions to complex metallurgical challenges

Client and Operations Support
- Provide on site support for metallurgical operations including:
Troubleshooting, Process optimization, Metallurgical audits, Benchmarking studies, Debottlenecking initiatives, Product quality improvement
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on strategic and operational issues
- Support clients in improving safety, productivity, and operating performance

Business Development & Consulting
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals
- Support marketing and business development activities
- Represent XPS at industry events and professional forums
- Contribute to the continued growth of the hydrometallurgical consulting practice

Leadership & Project Management
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary consulting projects
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on-schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards
- Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers and metallurgists in both Hydrometallurgy and Pyrometallurgy
- Manage project financial performance, budgets, cost controls and resource allocations
- Foster technical excellence and continuous improvement within the team

What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
- Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of relevant hydrometallurgical experience or an equivalent combination of advanced education and industry experience
- Experience in hydrometallurgy or precious metals extraction 
- Demonstrated experience in: Flowsheet development, Process design, Bench-scale testwork, Pilot plant programs, Process optimization
- Previous consulting and/or plant operations experience is considered a strong asset
- P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration in Ontario is preferred
