Introduction and what this Privacy Notice deals with
We care about your privacy and will handle your personal information as set out in this Privacy Notice. The Privacy Notice will explain what information we handle through your communications, dealings and other interactions with us (including: your use of the websites (listed here.) and your activities as an individual (e.g. as a stakeholder, beneficial owner or other representative of our prospective or existing customers and business partners, a prospective or existing customer or business partner, supplier, job applicant or sole trader), why we handle it and how we protect it, and will give you important information about your rights.

Who we are
Our websites are made available to you by, and you may have interactions with, different organisations within the Glencore group of companies, depending on the website you use or your interaction. The organisation that will make decisions about how your information is handled is Glencore International AG or the organisation within the Glencore group of companies that you engage with (e.g. the organisation to which you apply for a job or communicate with) (called “we”, “us” or “our” in this Privacy Notice). Changes to the Privacy Notice
We may change the Privacy Notice from time to time, will update the date at the top of this notice so that you know when the notice was last updated. Please review this Privacy Notice regularly. Changes to this privacy notice that affect you will be communicated to you through an appropriate channel, depending on how we normally communicate with you.
The information we collect depends on your interactions with us.
If you send us information about another person, you must get that person’s permission or let them know and make sure that they have also seen this Privacy Notice.
| When you use our Websites: |
The information we collect through our websites depends on which website you use and how you use our website. For example, information may be needed, such as when we collect cookies that are needed to operate our websites. See our Cookies Notice for more information. When you choose to use optional parts of our websites, we collect information to interact or respond. If you do not give that information, you won’t be able to use that part of the website. For example, when you choose to sign up to receive company announcements for investors, financial information and press releases by email, information about job opportunities or submit a question, you must include your email address so that we can send you information about the job opportunities or respond. When we collect information from you, we will indicate with an asterisk (*) what information is needed to enable you to use that part of the website. You, or your contact at Glencore, will need to tell us your first and last name, e-mail address, and company name for the Wi-Fi account creation. While using our Wi-Fi services, we record the MAC and IP address (which is assigned by our DHCP server) of the connected device and the Visitor Wi-Fi username. |
| When you interact with us as a prospective or existing customer or business partner: |
If you are or represent a prospective or existing customer or business partner, we will need to collect personal data about you and the directors, officers, beneficial owners, board members and other associated individuals of the organisation you represent. You will need to tell us your and their first and last names, current and previous addresses, nationalities, dates of birth, contact details such as telephone numbers, account name/username (e.g. on Skype, WeChat or WhatsApp) and email addresses, job titles, roles, shareholdings in the organisation, information about the organisation’s business, and information relevant for money laundering and sanctions compliance checking and general due diligence purposes (e.g., family information, financial statements, bank account details). You may also need to send us identification documents (such as a copy of a driver’s licence or passport page) so that we can verify your and their identities. If you do not give us this information, you may not be able to purchase from, sell to, or contract with, us. |

You may be required to tell us your first and last name, current and previous addresses, date of birth, telephone number, email address, employment and educational history, professional qualifications, references, and identification documents (such as copies of your passport and work permit, where applicable). If you do not give us the requested information, we may not be able to process your application. | Information we collect from other organisations |
We also collect information from other organisations. For example: (1) when you use our websites we collect cookies from other organisations. See our Cookies Notice for more information; (2) when you are or represent a prospective or existing business partner, we collect information about you or your company from your company, authorised representatives, agents or other people or service providers that are authorised to share your personal data; (3) when you apply for a job, we may collect information about you through background checks and interview evaluations. We also collect information from our agents, who have identified you as someone who may wish to purchase our products or provide services to us; and publicly available sources of information, such as company information databases, address validation software and telephone directories. |
We handle your personal information to respond to your requests (for example, to sign up to receive newsletters, job alerts, company announcements or other information) or questions, and to operate the websites and make them better. We will only send you newsletters, information and job alerts where you have chosen to sign up to them.
We handle your personal information to ensure the security and integrity of our Wi-Fi network. By verifying the identity of users, we can prevent unauthorised access and protect our systems from potential threats. Additionally, monitoring MAC and IP addresses allows us to troubleshoot connectivity issues and maintain optimal network performance, ensuring a reliable service for all users.
We handle your personal information to manage and/or investigate the concerns you have raised in line with applicable legal requirements and/or the legitimate interest of Glencore and define appropriate remedial action. If you provide contact details, this enables us to communicate with you for further clarification and to keep you updated on the management of the reported issue.
We handle your personal information:
- to support our procurement and onboarding processes, including complying with our policies, such as the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy, Anti-Money Laundering Policy, and Sanctions Policy, (available here) and related internal standards and procedures;
- to provide our products and services to your company, or to provide your company with a quote or offer for our products and services;
- to communicate with you about a potential or existing engagement with us;
- to answer your enquiries and provide any information or documents you ask for;
- for administrative, planning, product or service development and delivery purposes; and to update our records and keep your contact details up to date; and
- enter into, or perform under, a contract with you, or to take steps that you ask us to take before you decide to enter into a contract with us.
We must have a legal basis (or reason) to handle your information. Our legal bases (or reasons) are: (1) it is in our and other organisations’ legitimate interests to handle the information; (2) we need to handle the information to comply with a legal obligation; or (3) we need to handle the information to enter into or perform in connection with a contract with you, or to take steps that you ask us to take, before you decide to enter into a contract with us.
Considering your interests, rights and freedoms, our legitimate interests include
- managing our interactions with you so that we can send you information, newsletters, job alerts and company announcements where you have asked for it or answer your questions;
- creating advertising content and marketing to you, considering what we think your likes and dislikes are, based on information we have collected;
- operating the websites and making them better and safer to use;
- doing research and analysis activities so that we can give you more functionality on our websites or make the existing functionality better;
- applying our Terms of Use;
- exercising our rights and defending any claims;
- complying with laws and regulations that apply to us or third parties with whom we work and requests from courts, law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies, and other public and government authorities;
- receiving services from our professional advisors, such as lawyers, accountants, consultants or information security professionals; and/or
- being involved in a sale, purchase, merger or takeover of all of part of our or another organisation’s business or assets.
Our legal obligations include complying with applicable
- bribery and anti-corruption, money laundering; or sanctions laws.
- employment laws; and
- health and safety laws.
We share your information with
- Glencore affiliates within the Glencore group in order to respond to your queries, receive assistance from them or manage our business;
- third party service providers (such as information technology suppliers, contractors, debt collection agencies and background check agencies), professional advisors (such as accountants, auditors and lawyers) and business partners to deliver the website and for the purposes set out in “Why we handle your personal information and our legal reason for doing so”;
- a potential buyer or seller, when we want to sell or buy a business or assets or where they want to merge with us or take over our assets. The websites could be assets that are sold, so personal information of visitors of the websites will also be given;
- your authorised representatives (employees, agents, consultants, intermediaries);
- financial institutions (for payment processing or “know-your-client” purposes); and
- government and regulatory authorities (if required or authorised by law).

When we share information, we will take steps in line with data protection laws to protect your information.
When we use information for research, analysis and statistical purposes, we will use and share it in an anonymised form (that means that your name, and other information that can be used to identify you, have been removed) or combined with information about other people, so that you cannot be identified. We will also have agreements with the organisations we share it with so that they can only use the information for a specific reason and cannot sell the information.
The Glencore companies are located in many countries (click here for more information) and, like many organisations, we work with global partners and use global technology systems. This means that we may transfer your information to recipients (including our affiliated companies, service providers and governmental authorities) located in a different country from the country you are using the websites from, or that you live or work in, including to recipients located in countries that may not offer the same level of protection for your personal information as your home country and which do not benefit from an adequacy determination or decision by the applicable governing bodies (e.g., the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, EU Commission, etc.).
When you send us information from China, you are responsible for ensuring that you are allowed to share it, that it may be processed and used in accordance with this Privacy Notice, and that you have complied with all applicable legal requirements - including obtaining necessary consents from data subjects and securing required regulatory clearances or approvals.
When we send your information to another country, we will take steps in line with data protection laws to protect your information. If the other country is not considered to provide an adequate level of protection because of its data protection laws, we will generally protect the information by having data transfer agreements (designed to protect the privacy of your information, in forms approved by the applicable governing body) with the organisation that we are sending the information to. The time period for which we keep your personal information depends on the type of information, why we are handling it, and the following criteria:
- time limits for making claims, responding to requests or handling complaints;
- how long we need to keep information by law;
- how long a regulator or professional body or associate suggests we keep the information; and
- if we need to keep the information for legal proceedings or investigations.

You have the following rights under Swiss, European and United Kingdom laws in respect of personal information, and you may have similar rights under the laws of other countries:
- ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you and to send you a copy of the information;
- ask us to correct or remove personal information that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your personal information or limit how it is used;
- object to our handling of your personal information;
- ask us to send personal information provided by you back to you or to another person or organisation. You can also ask that we send the information in a commonly-used computer format;
- ask us to use your personal information only for restricted purposes;
- withdraw any permissions you have given to us to handle your personal information. If you do this:
- it does not mean that our handling of your personal information before you took back the permission was illegal; and
- you may not be able to use the part of the websites that needed your permission to work; and
- ask us not to use automation alone to make decisions using your personal information that will legally affect you or will have a significant effect on you.
You can ask to do these things at any time by contacting us at privacy@glencore.com, but not all of these rights may apply to your situation and there may be limits to your rights under applicable laws. If we do not believe your rights can be exercised in a particular situation, we will let you know this.
