Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and present monthly cost reports, forecasts, budgets, and financial performance information to management.
- Conduct cost, variance, and financial analysis to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
- Facilitate monthly cost review meetings and provide financial guidance to departmental managers and budget holders.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and cost allocation processes.
- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and drive cost optimisation and efficiency initiatives.
- Oversee costing, budgeting, forecasting, charge-out processes, and financial performance reporting.
- Process, review, and approve financial journals, transactions, requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, vendor requests, and policy deviations in line with delegated authority and internal controls.
- Maintain and support financial systems including SAP S/4HANA, BPC, Coupa, Concur, AppZen, VatSolve, and related reporting platforms.
- Prepare, upload, and validate actual, forecast, and trial balance information for financial reporting and planning purposes.
- Review and support VAT reporting, financial reconciliations, and intercompany cost allocations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Review, validate, and resolve discrepancies relating to service charges, cost recoveries, and intercompany transactions.
- Provide system support, user guidance, training, troubleshooting, and governance to finance and business stakeholders.
- Act as the primary liaison for Concur and AppZen administration, including cardholder onboarding, maintenance, compliance monitoring, and expense management support.
- Review, investigate, and resolve transactions flagged through compliance monitoring processes and ensure adherence to travel and expense policies.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial information, documentation, and audit responses.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, ICFR requirements, company policies, financial controls, governance frameworks, and delegated authorities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls, risk management, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with management, finance teams, business units, auditors, and external service providers.
- Collaborate across departments to support strategic initiatives, business improvements, and financial performance objectives while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant NQF 7 level qualification.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in costing or similar in a mining environment.
- Good knowledge of SAP.
- Strong analytical and trend analysis capability.
- Advanced systems and reporting expertise.
- High attention to detail and data governance mindset.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to operate across multiple assets and influence without direct authority.
- Strategic thinking with operational execution capability.
